Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff is looking for Timothy Clark who is wanted for Failure to Appear on original charges of Illegal Possession of a Regulated Firearm and Knowingly Altering a Firearm ID Number.
Clark is 30 y/o, 6’4, 200lbs., and his last known address was on Kenton Place in Temple Hills, MD

Business Accelerator Program In QAC

Queen Anne’s County Economic & Tourism Development, in partnership with the Maryland Small Business Development Center, has launched two business accelerator programs designed to equip entrepreneurs and business owners with the tools, strategies and mentorship needed to scale their businesses. The Ignite Business Accelerator is designed for startups and early-stage businesses, while the Elevate Business Accelerator is for scaling and established businesses. The Ignite Business Accelerator will run from April 1 to May 20. Sessions will be held for eight weeks on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Millington Muncipal Election Cancelled

The municipal election in Millington scheduled for March 4 has been cancelled because the candidates for the two open positions — Mayor Kevin Hemstock and Councilmember Zita Seals — are unopposed. The Evening Enterprise reports according to the town charter, there is no election if the race(s) is uncontested.
The last time the Town of Millington had a contested election was in 2022, when Seals won by a wide margin, 27-3. And before that, Millington had not had a contested election since 2017.

Poll Shows Support For Offshore Wind Among Eastern Shore Residents

A new poll finds solid support among Eastern Shore residents for offshore wind, with strong majorities convinced wind projects will benefit jobs, improve health conditions and support American energy independence.
The Chestertown Spy reports the poll was sponsored by Shore Progress, an Eastern Shore regional advocacy group, and conducted by Gonzales Research & Media Services, Inc. It found that among Eastern Shore residents, 51% support building offshore wind farms off the coast of Maryland, while 37% say they would oppose them, with 12% giving no opinion. The poll found that 54% of Shore residents support a goal of moving away from fossil fuels and toward renewable sources, such as offshore wind, with 39% opposed and 7% offering no opinion.

Delmarva Pride Center Establishes New Chapter In Kent County

The Delmarva Pride Center has established its newest chapter in Kent County. According to the Evening Enterprise, the expansion marks a significant milestone in the center’s mission to foster inclusivity, provide support and advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community across the Delmarva Peninsula, according to a news release. The Garfield Center for the Arts in Chestertown has offered to serve as the official meeting space for the new chapter.

KCPS Golden Anchor Award

Bill Receski of Rock Hall Elementary School is the most recent recipient of Kent County Public Schools’ Golden Anchor Award. The Evening Enterprise reports commended for his hard work and dedication, Receski received the award at the Feb. 10 Board of Education meeting. Receski is the teacher specialist at RHES. He has been with Kent County Public Schools for more than three decades.

Two Men Rest Driver From Fiery Crash In QAC

Two men are being hailed as heroes after saving a driver from a fiery crash in Queen Anne’s County on Tuesday afternoon. WBOC reports The Queen Anne-Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Company says John Shumaker and Lamar Stoltzfus stepped into action when they saw the car slammed into the tree, engulfed in flames. The crash happened just before 2 p.m. on Route 481 near Crouse Mill Road, north of the town of Queen Anne. Authorities say the driver hit a tree near the road. Fire officials say Shumaker and Stoltzfus pulled the driver, a man in his 20’s, out of the vehicle. Stoltzfus, who was delivering feed from his family farm had a fire extinguisher in his truck and helped put out the flames.

QAC Sheriffs Office Probes Fraud Incident

The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported fraud incident.
Last week, deputies responded to a residence where the victim advised he was unable to log into his computer and a pop-up message prompted him to call what was determined to be a fake Microsoft Support number. The fake representative advised the victim his computer had been hacked numerous times and transferred him to the “FCC.” The victim then provided personal information to the fake FCC representative.

Funding Pays For New Equipment At Medical Center In Chestertown

The Laboratory Services Department of the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown is now home to two new chemistry analyzers, made possible by more than $300,000 in funding provided by the Chester River Health Foundation. UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown is a University of Maryland Shore Regional Health hospital; UM Shore Regional Health is a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System.

Meet And Greet With Rock Hall Town Council Candidates

The League of Women Voters of Kent County and the Greater Rock Hall Business Association are co-sponsoring a “meet and greet” for the two candidates for the two open seats on the Rock Hall Town Council.
Incumbent Tim Edwards, who is seeking a third term, and first-time candidate Richard Faulkner are running unopposed. The event will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 26 in the mayor and council meeting room at St. John’s Catholic Church hall on South Main Street, beginning at 6 p.m.
