At their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, the Kent County commissioners thanked the Parks and Recreation Department for maintaining the grounds at nine parks around the county. The Kent County News reports participation doubled in multiple categories last year across the county’s five flagship parks: Worton Park, Betterton Beach, Edesville, Turner’s Creek and Toll Park. They had 2,856 participants in the 80 programs they offer and community events. The sports leagues went up to just over 800 participants, which did not include the independent sports leagues. The summer camps had high attendance, and for this year, have sold out.
